X-DLNA is a complete media server to play back local and online contents on any DLNA-compliant TV or Device. You can organize your media library with information for movies, series, videoclips (title, genres, cast, artists, image). Maybe VLC UPnP works on Windows, but I don’t use Windows and if I did I’d use the free UPnP client that Microsoft provides. My TV has a DLNA client so I know the server works. The problems with Mac and Linux VLC UPnP are not new, it’s been years since I’ve seen it work, and I. Download Purchase. Elmedia Player is a great option for DLNA streaming from Mac to Smart TV. It basically plays the role of a DLNA Media Controller (DMC) letting you stream video to smart TV from Mac via DLNA/UPnP and control the playback. Additionally to being a good DLNA player for Mac, Elmedia Player PRO is a universal downloader for saving various movies, videos, and audio files from YouTube, Dailymotion, Vevo and many more. The Mac running Firestream then sets up a DLNA “Server” (that’s what Firestream is for) and the receiver in the hi-fi system acts as a DLNA “Client”. Firestream on the Mac looks for the receiver and once it has found it the two parts of the DLNA system (server and client) allows the receiver to play the music from the Mac: Just switch the receiver into DLNA mode and all the music on the Mac suddently appears and is available to play!like magic. DLNA Media Streaming and Mirroring allows you to Stream your local Media content such as HD Videos, Audio files and Images on to DLNA enabled Smart TVs. This App also gives option to user share or mirror their mobile screen on to Miracast enabled wireless display or smart TV or to Miracast dongles. For DLNA please make sure both WiFi Display device or Smart TV and Mobile phones are connected.

I've upgraded the home digital recorder to a full HD Panasonic system (the DMR-BW880 to be exact) to be ready for the World Cup. The key new feature of the unit is that it includes a DLNA server to stream recorded content to other DLNA devices on the network.
I don't have any other DLNA 'certified' hardware but I do have a fast wireless network and a Mac... SURELY there's a nice bit of software available to turn my mac into a DLNA client!?!
Googling turns up lots and lots of DLNA server solutions, mainly hinged around streaming from macs to PS3s and Xboxes but no clients.
Does anyone with more experience in this sort of area have any advice?
